Frank Howson
Welcome to the festival that keeps on giving. Twenty good years. Take a moment to consider that. In an ever-changing world where there are less and less constants, it is comforting to know that a film festival exists for the sole purpose of shining a light on new young talents, as well as independent mavericks, rebels with a cause, and brave, controversial films that dare to ignite debate.
Bravo to Richard Wolstencroft and his loyal team who put the effort in every year, come rain or come shine, to make this opportunity exist for original local and international filmmakers, shunned by the more PC festivals, to find a home. And an audience. I have been proud to have supported this event for many years now, and can think of very few things more satisfying than supporting new talent. Without such support many talented creatives would walk away feeling frustrated and unappreciated. This is an industry that takes a lot, but most times forgets to give. To me there is nothing more noble than planting seeds for the future. And nothing more satisfying than watching them grow. Such an act empowers us all.
So, for the twentieth year, I salute MUFF and all those who sail with her.
Long may you run,
Frank Howson - Festival Patron
